INFORMED CONSENT OVERVIEW

Beginning counseling is a meaningful step, and we believe it is important for you to understand what to expect from the process. This overview is intended to provide general information about counseling services at Strong Hope Counseling Center. A full informed consent document will be reviewed and signed prior to beginning services.

THE COUNSELING PROCESS

Counseling is a collaborative process between you and your therapist. Together, you will explore concerns, identify goals, and work toward greater understanding, clarity, and sustainable positive change. Progress depends on many factors, including your participation, honesty, and commitment to the process.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Your privacy is important to us. Information shared in counseling is confidential and protected by law, with limited exceptions. These exceptions may include situations involving risk of serious harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect, or when disclosure is required by law.

Your therapist will review confidentiality and its limits in detail during your intake process.

RISKS AND BENEFITS

Counseling can be helpful and meaningful, but it may also involve discussing difficult emotions, experiences, or memories. While many people experience increased insight, relief, and improved coping skills, outcomes vary and cannot be guaranteed.
